Alex Kilbee understands that life isn't lived through a camera lens , but is captured that way. Nuances, emotions, fleeting moments are imperceptible until compiled into a beautiful narrative of your special day. As your photographs are viewed, the story of a day of celebration and happiness unfolds. Each story is unique because it's yours.
Alex attended the prestigious Technikon Pretoria Photography School, in South Africa, in the early Nineties. For three years he studied all the technical and aesthetic aspects of photography as an art form. Trained to use film, digital photography was just emerging with all it's varied possibilities and this too, formed part of his education. South Africa at this time was a incendiary mix of political riots, social upheaval and dynamic change. Alex had only to step out onto the streets of Johannesburg and Pretoria to capture a country in turmoil and his photojournalism of the time reflects this. It was this documentary-style photography that captured his imagination for its ability to perfectly convey the mood and emotion of a moment in time.
Over the past 15 years, Alex has worked for a prominent lifestyle magazine and also as a freelance photographer; capturing famous sporting stars, bands and personalities. He feels that he has found his niche in wedding photography.
